Energy Efficiency and Savings
Whether you are a homeowner or a business owner, the amount of energy you use and the amount of money you spent on that energy matters. Whether it's turning off the lights after you leave a room, shutting off devices when they aren’t in use, or even simply replacing a lightbulb, there are a lot of small yet important actions we can take to reduce the amount of energy we use, as well as the amount of money we spent on that energy. While energy usage and utility bills aren’t always on the top of the mind of every homeowner or business owner, conserving energy and minimizing energy usage should be an important goal for just about anyone. With modern energy needs growing more and more every day as energy resources become more scarce and complicated, energy efficiency and minimizing energy usage is only becoming more vital for everyone to practice.

Energy Efficiency for Homes
Lighting
The lights in your home are used on a daily basis, and they contribute a lot to both your energy usage, and your energy wastage. Sure, we all try to remember to turn off the lights when we leave a room, but even with some personal due diligence, the energy efficient quality of your light fixtures play an important part in how much energy they use, as well as how much they cost to operate. By installing energy efficient light fixtures, bulbs, and electrical systems, you can majorly reduce the energy you use for lighting your home, not to mention that modern energy efficient light fixtures and bulbs offer much more selection and personalization with the lighting ambiance in your home.

Energy Efficiency for Businesses
Property Lighting
Whether it's exterior lighting for security or an outdoor patio, or indoor lighting to illuminate shelves and customer walkways, all commercial businesses rely on effective lighting for their property. In fact, lighting usually makes up 15- 30% of the total energy expense for a commercial business. For something that you rely on so much, and use practically the entire business day, being able to optimize your commercial lighting for energy efficiency is a massive step for many businesses to support their revenue growth. By upgrading to energy-efficient lights and light fixtures in your commercial business, you could save 50% or even more on your monthly lighting and electricity usage bill. For a simple process, that's big savings that's cut down on expenses and supports your overall growth as a business.
Energy Efficient Systems
Like the lighting systems and fixtures in your commercial business, there is likely a variety of equipment and HVAC systems that you also utilize on a daily basis. You rely on these types of systems (that use a lot of energy to do their job) to keep your business temperate during both the summer and winter months, but without optimizing these systems or an effective sealing of your business property, you could be wasting energy, and therefore money. By optimizing your property and upgrading your HVAC or compressed air systems to much more energy efficient alternatives, you can use less energy for the exact same usage amount, which means you are also spending less money every month on energy bills.
Supporting Your Bottom Line
At the end of the day, any business is simply trying to have their income exceed their expenses, as being a profitable commercial business is not exactly a guarantee. There are a lot of factors to business financial growth, but really only two that matter on paper: you improve your income, or you minimize your expenses. Optimizing your commercial business for energy efficiency is a simple and highly effective way to minimize your monthly expenses. By utilizing or installing energy efficient lighting and HVAC systems, you can save money every single month on your energy and utility bills, giving you more of the financial leverage you need to grow your business and succeed. And, you are helping support the larger national electricity grids, and the planet itself

-
What is the application process?
You will need to sign the application and then complete the easy, no-hassle assessment. The application from ComEd will verify your eligibility.
-
What will this cost?
The Energy Assessment is free and is a required step in the process to find out how much the utility company and/or state incentives will cover. We typically find that incentives and discounts cover about 75% of the total installation cost.
Incentive amounts vary based on the products required and the type of installation. Most businesses will see up to 75% in savings with these incentives. Additional savings may come from tax incentives. Occasionally, some customers may save more than 75%. If a project costs $5,000 without incentives, your business could expect to see an out-of-pocket cost between $1,250 and $2,500. Plus, installing high-efficiency products immediately reduces a company's utility bill.
-
Does my business qualify for energy saving incentives?
If you received our information, your business likely qualifies. Contact us today to schedule your free assessment. Once the assessment is complete, you will be able to sit down with your assessor so that they can thoroughly explain all of the incentives and cost savings that may apply to your business.
-
What's the catch?
There’s no catch. The U.S. energy demand is outpacing supply, which means the most cost-effective approach is to reduce energy demand. To encourage small businesses to make the switch, there are utility company programs available to help you upgrade your lighting and install energy-saving HVAC and compressed air systems. Besides being a full service electrical contractor, IKON Electric has also partnered as a trade ally with your local electricity providers, such as ComEd, to make your energy efficient upgrades easy and cost effective for your business.
-
Are you selling energy? Do I switch utility companies?
No. We do not sell energy, and we're not trying to get you to convert.
-
What is an energy-savings program?
Utility companies such as gas and electric producers are mandated by the government to assist with increasing the proliferation of high-efficiency lighting and HVAC equipment. This is needed because the rate of increase in energy consumption in the United States is outpacing the rate of supply. If energy consumption were to exceed supply, our everyday lives would change rather dramatically.
To reduce overall consumption, utility companies provide incentives to businesses to replace old equipment with new high-efficiency products and to install high-efficiency products on new construction. Most states have enacted laws prior to 2010, and you can find the line item expense on your utility bill.
